The Canadiens defeat the Ducks 3-2 in a shootout thanks to Patrik Laine and Kirby Dach.
Kirby Dach ended a 20-game goal drought as the Canadiens rallied to secure a win after surrendering a two-goal advantage against the Washington Capitals on home ice. Montreal has now triumphed in three of its last four outings.
Patrik Laine, continuing his impressive return from injury on December 3, netted his third power-play goal in four games and registered his first assist of the season. Meanwhile, Nick Suzuki extended his scoring streak to seven games, and goaltender Sam Montembeault contributed with 27 saves to bolster Montreal’s performance.
For the Ducks, Troy Terry led the offense with his seventh and eighth goals of the season, the highest on the team. Lukas Dostal faced a challenging night in net, making 19 saves as Anaheim suffered its third consecutive loss during a four-game road stretch.
Jacob Trouba, acquired from the New York Rangers on Friday, made his debut for the Ducks. The 30-year-old defenseman logged 22 minutes and 35 seconds of ice time, paired with Cam Fowler, and delivered five hits.
The Ducks have now dropped eight one-goal games this season, which accounts for half of their total losses.
